Day 2 - Can love be selfless in a selfish world ?

As I was driving home today, I put my USB drive to play my favourite songs. To my joy, the first song was "bade ache lagte hai ". I simply love the song :). It's from an old Hindi classic. The song got over and I was reminded of a Hindi sitcom which shared the same name. While I am not a regular with Hindi serials, this one had evoked a great interest. But as always, the channels know how to kill the story. I had stopped watching and happened to ask my sis who follows it. She said that the main protagonist had left everything to ensure that her family is safe and free from the problems which had nothing to do with her.

It left me with a question for myself. Would I be willing to give up all for the people I love? I am not sure if I could ever leave everybody for their good. I would want to do everything to ensure my loved ones are safe but realistically it's too big an ask. While I am all for being practical, I know that there would be people in the world who would have walked the same path. I know for a fact there are people around me who love me dearly and can take unforeseen risks if required or me. It sounds scary to me at the moment but maybe when there is a real need, I might live upto the occasion. Love is always a divine feeling. Love is not selfish and is not meant to hurt people.

There might be pain associated with love but cannot deny that we are nothing without it. Love completes us. It gives a whole new meaning to life and makes the universe go round in its madness :). As for my question, I would like to believe that there is hope in humanity.

Love can indeed be selfless in this selfish world. Each act of selfishness would be drowned by millions of people who would be in love for no selfish reason :)

Cheers to love,
 Anjaanis
